Usually it’s humidity — swollen wood or felt bushings gripping the key — or, less often, something lodged in the action. Either way, it’s a common, fixable repair, not a sign of a bigger problem.
Can you fix a broken piano string during the same visit?
Often, yes, if we have a matching replacement string on hand or can source one quickly. Broken bass stings will need to be measured, duplicated, and installed on another day. We’ll let you know on-site.
